JACK CHAN NAMED TO 2021 NEW JERSEY SUPER LAWYERS LIST AND TO BERGEN MAGAZINE’S BERGEN COUNTY TOP LAWYERS 2020
We are pleased to announce that our founder, Jack Chan, has been selected for the second consecutive year to the 2020 NEW JERSEY SUPER LAWYERS LIST and also named as one of BERGEN COUNTY’S TOP LAWYERS by Bergen Magazine.
Super Lawyers is an exclusive list, recognizing no more than five percent of attorneys in each state.
Super Lawyers, part of Thomson Reuters, is a research-driven, peer influenced rating service of outstanding lawyers who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. Attorneys are selected from more than 70 practice areas and all firm sizes, assuring a credible and relevant annual list.
The annual selections are made using a patented multiphase process that includes:
• Peer nominations
• Independent research by Super Lawyers
• Evaluations from a highly credentialed panel of attorneys
The objective of Super Lawyers is to create a credible, comprehensive and diverse listing of exceptional attorneys to be used as a resource for both referring attorneys and consumers seeking legal counsel.
BERGEN magazine recently commissioned Professional Research Services of Troy, Michigan, to conduct a survey of thousands of attorneys all across Bergen County. Each was asked to vote for peers whom they deemed best across more than 35 specialties. The list of top vote-getters in each specialty will be published in BERGEN magazine’s November 2020 issue.
Please join us in congratulating Jack on his selections!

APALA-NJ IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT APPOINTED TO NEW JERSEY STATE BAR ASSOCIATION (NJSBA) JUDICIAL & PROSECUTORIAL APPOINTMENTS COMMITTEE (JPAC)
We are proud to announce that APALA-NJ Immediate Past President Jack Chan has been appointed to the New Jersey State Bar Association (NJSBA) Judicial & Prosecutorial Appointments Committee (JPAC).
In 1969, then Governor Richard J. Hughes entered into an agreement for the NJSBA to participate in the Governor’s constitutional mandate to appoint judges and prosecutors, with the advice and consent of the Senate. Known as the Hughes Compact, this agreement established the NJSBA’s role as the only non-political element of the appointment process. The NJSBA JPAC provides an invaluable service to the legal profession by ensuring that only the most accomplished, qualified, and reliable candidates serve as judges and prosecutors in this State. On March 12, 2018, Governor Philip Murphy signed the current version of the Compact which added three At-Large members for attorneys from underrepresented groups. NJSBA President Evelyn Padin appointed Jack to fill one of its At-Large seats. He will serve from August 2019 to May 2021.
Jack is a litigator and transactional attorney with nearly twenty years of experience. He has a dual degree in Political Science and East Asian Studies from New York University. He is a graduate of Boston University School of Law, where he was an editor of the Public Interest Law Journal. Following law school, Jack served as law clerk to the Honorable Thomas N. Lyons in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Law Division, Union County.
Post clerkship, Jack joined Robertson, Freilich, Bruno & Cohen, a Newark litigation boutique, working on Lanham Act unfair competition claims, environmental insurance coverage, and other complex commercial disputes. He then joined Saiber LLC, where he continued to hone his litigation practice, working on intellectual property cases, coverage disputes on behalf of major insurance carriers, FINRA securities arbitrations, and multimillion dollar products liability class actions. After Saiber, Jack joined the complex casualty coverage unit at AIG, specializing in high value insurance coverage matters. Now as the founding member of the Law Office of Jack Chan LLC, he specializes in real estate transactions, general litigation, foreclosures and collections law. He is also an Assistant Prosecutor in the Borough of Palisades Park. Jack is admitted to practice law in the State of New Jersey, the State of New York, and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey.
Jack proudly served on the Executive Board of APALA-NJ for the past five years. In addition, he was on the Board of Directors for the Fort Lee Regional Chamber of Commerce. Jack resides with his wife Jenny, an anesthesiologist, and their two daughters in Englewood Cliffs.
